Birthday...

To her, yesterday was like any other day but to us she was turning the B-I-G 2. Where did the time go? It seemed like yesterday, I was cradling her in my arms and now she's a walking, talking, sassy 2 year old.

Yesterday we celebrated with family and friends. We wanted to do something big to make up for the small 1st birthday she had due to a bad cold (we all had at the time). We only invited a few families but it was certainly a full house. Football game on in one room, kids playing in another and still more at the dining table, eating what's left on their plates. It was a great birthday and we were so thankful to share it with everyone that could come.

Happy Birthday Muffin! We LOVE you!

Rewards for being rewarded?

Here's the scenerio.

Kid gets awarded for student of the month in a huge school assembly with certificate and pencil in hand and loud cheers from the crowd. Kid gets off of bus to be greeted by over excited parents with a wrapped gift and decides to open it in front of all the kids at the bus stop. My kid looks over at me with tears welling up in his eyes and asks, "Why does he get a present and I don't?", granted he too got the student of the month award as well.

Don't you think it's a bit much? They could've at least did the gift thing at home, not in the middle of the bus stop so that the entire neighborhood of kids (can watch him tear open his huge box of Star Wars Legos) and ask why they didn't get a gift for being student of the month.

What is going on?! I'm all about rewards when deserved but to be rewarded for being rewarded seems a bit much. Sounds like a bad case of over-indulgence.

So with that said, I told Curtis it was great and exciting that he got student of the month and that he worked very hard to be honored for it. And that we were very, very proud of him. And just because he was rewarded for something doesn't always mean he'll get a present for it. An assembly and an award in front of the whole school should be a celebration in itself. He sighed and after 5 minutes of sulking he went off to play with his brother and sister.

Day 12

12. French Macaroon
*I had heard about these from friends but never tried them until now. It's my new favorite treat. I love the lightness and the chewy texture of the macaroon. Starbucks sells them now 12 for $10. They are pricey but worth a try. I hope to find these at a local bakery sometime and see the difference. But for now these will do. Raspberry is my favorite.

Day 9, 10, 11...

Sorry that I'm behind on my days.

So here are a my favorite things 9, 10, 11

9. Trader Joe's Kettle Corn
* I know, I'm going back to T.J. but I can't help it. They have some really yummy snack foods that I had to add it to my favorite list. It's seasoned perfectly with just the right amount of sugar to salt ratio. It's perfection.

10. Boyfriend Jeans (Gap)
*I've been in search of a casual, comfortable pair of jeans and I found them. I wear them just about everyday (that and my newly purchased jesery sleep pants). I love them and I plan on getting a couple more.

11. Chanel Lip Gloss
*I know, I know I'm going back to make-up again but I have to give props to this product. I actually got this as a gift a couple of times and this is by far my favorite lip gloss. It's not sticky or gooey like some of the lip gloss I've used and it lasts.

8. Gillian&O'Malley Jersey Sleep Pants (On Sale @ Target $8)
*These are the softest and the most comfortable pants my legs have ever felt. Go buy them now while they're on SALE!!! GO! Just do it!

Few of my favorite things...day 5

5. UGGS
*Okay, so I've actually had a pair of Uggs for a couple of years now. But they are one of my favorite pairs of shoes. I wear them just about everyday. They're comfortable, warm, & easy to put on for those quick run to the grocery store or Curtis' school bus stop. heh.
